Luchino and Amedeo Grappi, father and son, underline their dedication in running an organic farm in Pienza, in the heart of Val d’Orcia in Tuscany, an area recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
For generations, the Grappi family has been growing over 100 hectares of land with ancient cereals and legumes, following the principles of sustainable agriculture and biodiversity.
Mulino Val d’Orcia wanted to increase its production capacity, keeping the high artisanal quality of its products.
The purpose was to implement technological solutions that could integrate harmoniously with traditional pasta processing methods, increasing at the same time efficiency and scalability of processes, without compromising the quality.
2013 marks the beginning of the cooperation with Italpast: Mulino Val D’Orcia decided to install the first artisanal plant inside the Castle of Spedaletto, located right on the Via Francigena, specific for the production of typical Tuscan shapes, such as Pici and Pappardelle.
Italpast supplied them not only cutting-edge equipment, but also offered technical consultancy, as well as support for the design of the plant, ensuring that each phase of the process respected the high quality standards, and corresponded to the Company’s needs.
This partnership has then been renewed in 2020, through the realization of a second plant in the city of Monticchiello, optimized to further increase the production, while maintaining the unique product’s characteristics.
Thanks to the cooperation with Italpast, Mulino Val d’Orcia has noticeably increased its production capacity, as well as extended the offered products range, without sacrificing the integrity of the artisanal process.
The new plants allowed to better face the increasing demand of high quality biological products, thus strengthening the Company presence both locally then internationally.
Italpast dedication in supplying technologies respectful of the tradition, allowed Mulino Val D’Orcia to keep its reference position as an artisanal pasta producer, bringing the authentic flavours of Toscany all over the World.
This success story shows how the synergy between respect for tradition and technological innovation can generate significant added value, supporting growth and sustainable development in the agri-food sector
